The university and LLC “RENERA”, which is a part of Rosatom State Corporation have signed a cooperation agreement on opening Bachelor and Master degree programs on Chemistry.
The educational programs being developed are aimed at implementing the tasks of training highly qualified specialists for the plant being built and providing human resources for engineering and technical specialties.
The agreement was signed on the day when the construction of the lithium-ion battery plant in the Kaliningrad Region was officially launched. The largest Russian enterprise with a capacity of 4GWh per year will meet the needs of domestic manufacturers of electric transport in traction lithium-ion batteries, and the power grid complex in fixed energy storage systems.
The graduates of the master's program in the profile «Chemical sources of current» will be able to solve engineering and rationalization problems within the framework of the designated production. The bachelor's program training will make it possible to train specialists in the field of quality control in the production of chemical current sources. Recruitment for the new educational programs will open in the next two years.
It is planned to create scientific and practical laboratories on the basis of the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University that will become the basis for student internships and graduate qualification research. Experts from the fuel division will also provide scientific guidance and advice to future specialists.

Alexander Fedorov, IKBFU Rector: |
The university is looking forward to start developing educational programs together with the future employer. This format of cooperation guarantees the graduation of in-demand and highly qualified personnel. From the next academic year our students will start solving real cases of Russia's largest enterprise and will be able to contribute to the corporation's development. Prior to the start of the programs themselves, we are considering the possibility of embedding special tracks for training RENERA LLC personnel on the basis of the undergraduate chemistry training direction. |
Alexander Kamyshev, Director General of RENERA LLC: |
I am sure that cooperation between RENERA and Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University will be fruitful. We also count on a successful partnership with specialized secondary educational institutions of Kaliningrad region in Gusev and Sovetsk. If we consider other regions — St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and other technical universities in the country. The project of the future «gigafactory» can be rightfully considered innovative, high-tech and promising. That's why we hope that young talented guys and girls will be interested in our project. |
In July 2022, RENERA LLC and Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University signed a cooperation agreement in order to strengthen cooperation, develop educational, scientific, personnel, and innovative potential, ensure solution of social and economic problems, prepare and retain highly qualified personnel for the development of the region.
In addition, during the working meeting of the delegation of Rosatom State Corporation with representatives of the university, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the results and prospects for cooperation in scientific research and development of scientific potential. IKBFU Rector Alexander Fedorov demonstrated to ROSATOM Director General Alexey Likhachev a model of the future Kantian campus, the construction of which is planned to start this year, and a model of the university's digital metacampus.
