IKBFU, KSTU and Entrepreneurship Support Fund of the Kaliningrad Region Sign Agreement on Development of Samsung IoT Academy Project

On January 29, 2019, representatives of Samsung Electronics, Integrated Regional Centre Foundation ‘Entrepreneurship Support Fund of the Kaliningrad Region’, the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University and Kaliningrad State Technical University signed an agreement on development of Samsung IoT Academy project in the Kaliningrad Region.

‘Samsung IoT Academy’ is a long-term educational project of Samsung Electronics aimed at developing digital economy in Russia. The project provides students with free practical knowledge in one of the most sought-after fields of information technology. The study course includes real cases on the implementation of the Internet of Things. At the end of the course students will be able to create their own prototypes of IoT devices.

Anton Alikhanov, Governor of the Kaliningrad Region, Dr Irina Kuksa, First Vice-Rector – Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University, Dr Vladimir Volkogon, Rector of Kaliningrad State Technical University, Kirill Lilo, Director of the Integrated Regional Centre Foundation ‘Entrepreneurship Support Fund of the Kaliningrad Region’, Sergey Pevnev, Director of Corporate Projects and Digital Partnerships with Governmental Authorities at Samsung Electronics’ CIS headquaters, and Svetlana Yun, Leader of Solution Ecosystem Part of Samsung R&D Institute Russia, became the first visitors of the new laboratory of Samsung IoT Academy project.

Dr Efim Fidrya, Vice-Rector for Social Communications (IKBFU):

Students from the IKBFU and KSTU, two leading universities of the Kaliningrad Region, will participate in the project of Samsung IoT Academy. They will take the study course and design their own IoT devices, which can be promoted as start-ups and supported by business funds.
