One of the most important goals of modern Chemistry, concerning pharmacology issues, is searching for new chemical compounds. There is no perfect medicine for all diseases that is why it is necessary to synthesize new ones.

Scientists can save their efforts and time using a multicomponent chemistry approach. The researchers from the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University chose the well-known chemical Castagnoli-Cushman reaction and found out how to trigger it through the multicomponent chemistry approach. They discovered a way of quick chemical compounds synthesis that can be useful for medicine production.

The scientists from the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University conducted the study in collaboration with their colleagues from St Petersburg University. Recently, an authoritative scientific journal Organic Letters has published their article Three-Component Castagnoli-Cushman Reaction of 3-Arylglutaconic Acids with Aromatic Aldehydes and Amines Delivers Rare 4,6-Diaryl-1,6-dihydropyridin-2 (3H)-ones.
