The university prioritises quality over quantity, attracting high achievers such as top scorers, winners of the All-Russian Olympiad, as well as applicants from various regions of Russia and foreign countries.
The admissions statistics for 2023:
A total of 33,430 candidates from 83 regions of Russia and 32 countries worldwide applied.
A record-breaking number of 4,015 students were admitted, with 2,709 of them being accepted on a state-funded basis. Enrollment is still ongoing for certain programs on a fee-paying basis.
41% of the enrollees came from outside of Kaliningrad. The majority of non-Kaliningrad based Russian students came from Moscow and the Moscow region, Kemerovo, Murmansk, Arkhangelsk, and Vologda regions.
The majority of foreign students came from India, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, China, and Turkmenistan
The competition for admission has remained consistent compared to last year, with an average of nearly 14 applicants competing for each spot in Bachelor's and Specialist’s degree programs, and almost 4 applicants for each spot in the Master's degree programs.
The university is a participant of the pilot project on higher education system reform. Basic higher education and specialised higher education programs are in great demand, with an average of 8.8 and 5.4 applicants per place, respectively.
The top five most popular programs based on the number of applicants are Advertising and Public Relations, Information Security, Information Systems and Technologies, Applied Mathematics and Informatics, and Law.
The average Unified State Exam (USE) score for state-funded enrollees is 75.72.
Additionally, 14 USE top scorers and 10 winners of the All-Russian Olympiad have been enrolled.
There has been a 36% increase in the number of employer-sponsored enrollees compared to last year.
41% of those enrolled in master's programs hold a diploma from another educational institution.
