As part of the “World of Immanuel Kant” historical reconstruction project, a 3D printing laboratory has been set up at the University.
Anton Gaiduchenk, Project Engineer: |
The first Kant figurines, as well as miniatures of his house and everyday objects were airbrushed and hand-painted, which took a lot of time and effort. To speed up the process, we are now using standard white spray paint. We plan to produce plywood gift boxes for our products in the future. |
The project involved a scale model of the philosopher’s house, complete with functional lighting and miniature passersby. The buildings for the maquette could not be printed in one piece on the existing equipment, so the original 3D models had to be broken down into parts and assembled after.
The project includes printing other objects from Immanuel Kant’s time, such as buildings and figurines of his contemporaries, as well as everyday objects used by the philosopher. A scale model of the central Königsberg district is currently in development.
