A cycle of training sessions under the additional professional education program “Counteracting Offenses Committed Using Information and Communication Technologies” has concluded. The program was organized by the Coordination Center for fostering active civic engagement among young people, preventing international and interfaith conflicts, countering the ideology of terrorism, and preventing extremism at Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University.
The training was conducted in three stages, and by the end of November around 80 specialists from regional government authorities, local self-government bodies, educational institutions, cultural and sports organizations, as well as other professionals working with youth, had acquired a foundational set of knowledge on legal liability and modern methods of combating cybercrime, particularly extremist offenses carried out using ICT.
Experts introduced participants to theoretical foundations and practical recommendations for identifying signs of legal violations in cyberspace, as well as preventive measures aimed at minimizing the risk of unlawful actions in the virtual environment.
Summing up the training cycle, participants unanimously noted the high informational value of the lectures and emphasized the need to continue such educational initiatives in the future, given the growing threat of online crime and the increasing demand for qualified specialists with in-depth expertise in information security.
| Mikhail Avakyan, Head of the Coordination Center: |
| For several years we have been providing advanced training for regional specialists on various aspects of countering destructive behavior among young people, including on the Internet. We strive to design courses based on principles of practical relevance and interactivity, therefore training groups, typically, do not exceed 25–30 participants, and the sessions are led by the best university experts and practitioners in the region. We hope that next year we will again be able to offer specialists in our region engaging professional development programs. |
