A first day ceremony is a special event organised by the postal service. A postage stamp is defaced with a unique postmark made specifically for the occasion. These stamps have a special philatelic meaning, value and uniqueness. The special postmark differs from the ordinary cancellation in that its text indicates the name of the event or memorable date to which it is dedicated.
The stamp is named “300 years since the birth of Immanuel Kant (1724 — 1804)”. It depicts a portrait of Immanuel Kant from the collection of the Kaliningrad Regional Amber Museum. The size of the stamp is 37 mm x 50 mm, face value — 70 rubles. The Kaliningrad region received 3,600 stamps out of the total of 96,000.
A commemorative postmark was made for the stamp issue, featuring the portrait of the great philosopher and the inscription “Russian Post. 300th anniversary. Immanuel Kant and the city of Kaliningrad”. In addition to Kaliningrad, the first day ceremony took place in Moscow.
