Delegation of IKBFU, composed of the Director of International Office Daria Gerber and the Head of Internationalization and International Partnership Ksenia Skryabina, conducted a series of presentation visits entitled “IKBFU Day” to educational institutions in the Balkan region. As part of the visit, representatives of the university visited the gymnasium “East Ilidza” in Eastern Sarajevo (Serbian Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina), the Second Kragujevac Gymnasium (Kragujevac, Serbia) and the Philological Gymnasium (Belgrade, Serbia).
In an interactive form IKBFU representatives told the students about the unique geographical location and cultural-historical heritage of the Kaliningrad region, about the traditions and learning opportunities at the Baltic Federal University.
The presentation covered practical aspects that are important to everyone who plans to move to another country for education: transport logistics, cost of living in Kaliningrad, living conditions and features of student life of foreign students. During the meetings, the IKBFU delegation was accompanied by employees of the Russian House Yulia Hakimova and Georgy Engelgardt, who explained in detail to the students about the procedure for admission to Russian universities according to the quota of the Government of the Russian Federation.
| Daria Gerber, Director of the International Office: |
| Despite the rather close neighborhood, the Baltic Federal University until recently did not have a large flow of students from the Balkan region. We currently have 25 such students. However, based on the lively response of students from schools and gymnasiums, it can be predicted — this number will increase in the coming years. The obvious advantages of our region, such as seaside location, moderate climate, rich history and well-developed infrastructure become even more attractive for students from the Balkan region due to convenient transport accessibility. You can get to us pretty quickly — by bus via Gdansk, Berlin or Vilnius. Thus, what may be a logistical barrier for the inhabitants of other regions of Russia or Asian countries, for students in the Balkan region is an affordable route to the Baltic Sea and quality education. |
The visits were organized and conducted with the support of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Belgrade (Russian House in Belgrade), which oversees a quota educational campaign in Russia for citizens of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and North Macedonia.
