Representatives of the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University delegation visited the Ocean University of China (OUC) and explored collaborative opportunities in sports education. During the visit, the IKBFU delegation toured OUC’s sports facilities, attended student events, and engaged with faculty and students to deepen connections between the higher education institutions.
In a presentation for OUC’s Physical Education students, Denis Voronin, Director of the Higher School of Sports at IKBFU; Daria Gerber, Director of the International Office; and Maria Litvinyuk, Director of the Centre for Cross-Cultural Communication with Asia-Pacific Countries, introduced IKBFU’s diverse educational programmes, research initiatives, and extracurricular activities. Ocean University students expressed strong interest in attending an IKBFU holiday school that would allow them to experience Russian education and culture firsthand.
Denis Voronin, Director of the Higher School of Sports: |
We noted many similarities between our institutions' educational processes and sports activities, which opens up extensive opportunities for collaboration. To begin with, we’ve agreed to implement academic exchange programs so that students can experience different educational standards, enriching their professional competencies through study at a partner university. We also attended practice sessions for OUC’s student sports teams and saw that our students share a comparable level of training. This inspired us to arrange friendly matches between our universities in the near future. |
Li Shiming, Head of the Department of Physical Education, Ocean University of China: |
These agreements are particularly meaningful in the light of the recent BRICS summit, where our leaders emphasised the importance of building strong partnerships and friendships between our countries. |
