Kaliningrad astronomers captured the largest planet in the solar system and one of the brightest objects in the night sky — Jupiter. A short animation, created by combining images from an hour-long photo shoot, shows the planet’s rotation around its axis. To better show the movement of Jupiter’s cloud cover, the animation deliberately loops the rotation backward.
To obtain the images, members of the astronomical community carried out an hour-and-a-half shoot using a 280mm Celestron Advanced C11 telescope, a ZWO 533MM astrophotography camera and an atmospheric dispersion corrector.
