On 23 October, IKBFU participated in the Russian education exposition held in Qingdao, China. The event was attended by representatives of the Qingdao government, university officials from Shandong Province and ten Russian universities.
Pavel Shevtsov, Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo, gave the opening address. He stressed the importance of the event: “President Xi Jinping is currently attending the BRICS Summit in Kazan, further prospects for the development of Russian-Chinese academic relations will be explored.”
Tatiana Urzhumtseva, director of the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing, noted that China’s economic development depends on educating a highly skilled workforce, and strengthening the education system has been China’s top priority in recent years.
Five Russian universities were showcased at the exhibition. IKBFU was represented by Denis Voronin, Director of the Higher School of Physical Education and Sports, Maria Litvinyuk, Head of the Centre for Cross-cultural Communication with the Asia-Pacific Countries, and Daria Gerber, Director of the International Office. Maria Litvinyuk spoke about the University’s mission, educational programmes, infrastructure, extracurricular opportunities for students and priority research areas.
At the end of the event, representatives of Russian and Chinese universities exchanged ideas on academic cooperation, discussed the implementation of joint educational programmes, educational tourism, and attracting Chinese applicants.
