On March 13–14, the III International Economic Forum “Russia-Balkans in the Architecture of a Multipolar World. Prospects for Economic Integration” was held in Moscow. The event brought together more than 160 participants from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Croatia, the Czech Republic, as well as representatives from 16 Russian regions.
The forum, which has established itself as a leading discussion platform since 2024, was organized by the Russian-Balkan Dialogue Center for International Cooperation and the Russian-Balkan Center for Business Cooperation and Culture. The key topic of discussion was the development of business, educational, and technological cooperation between Russia and the Balkan countries. The event was held in a two-day format: on March 13 was held a plenary session , and on March 14, a unique strategic session on cooperation between Russian and Balkan regions.
The Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University was represented at the forum by Daria Gerber, Director of the International Office, who spoke as an honorary guest. Her presentation focused on the university's practical experience in creating a sustainable academic landscape between Russia and the Balkans. In her speech, Daria Gerber highlighted the evolution of the IKBFU's collaboration with partners in the region and focused on the “IKBFU Day” project, which involves working with schoolchildren in leading gymnasiums in Belgrade, Kragujevac, and East Sarajevo. It is worth noting that in 2025, the IKBFU gained three partners from Serbia (Belgrade University, Kragujevac University) and the Republika Srpska (University of East Sarajevo). Daria Gerber's presentation complemented the forum's general discussion on the prospects for cooperation. The participants emphasized the high potential for collaboration, despite the geopolitical challenges.
