IKBFU Congratulates Ocean University on Centenary

A delegation from the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University visited Ocean University of China as part of celebrations marking the latter’s 100th anniversary.

Ocean University is part of the Chinese government’s programme to build world-class universities and is one of the leading universities in China. The university has more than 35,000 students and more than 4,000 employees, as well as its own fleet of research vessels. The university’s graduates include outstanding public figures and scientists in the fields of oceanology and marine economics. The Ocean University has established partnerships with more than 300 universities from 50 regions and countries around the world.

In June 2024, IKBFU signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ocean University of China, agreeing on cooperation in life sciences, oceanology and physical education, joint research and academic exchanges.

The centenary celebrations of Oceanic University were attended by more than three thousand representatives of the academic and scientific community from around the world. IKBFU Acting Rector congratulated the University via video message.

	The history of the Ocean University is remarkable among the education and science of China. Its research and educational activities are based on the union of tradition and innovation. Today, Ocean University is a unique multidisciplinary educational institution, a leading scientific and educational centre, renowned for its fundamental scientific base and high standard of professional training, especially in the field of oceanology and marine research. I would like to note the symbolism of celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Ocean University in the year of Russian-Chinese cultural cooperation. We value the strong cultural and academic ties that unite Russia and China. Developing direct people-to-people contacts, getting to know each other’s rich history, culture and traditions will contribute to strengthening the centuries-old friendship between the Russian and Chinese peoples. On behalf of many thousands of people in the academic community of Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University, we congratulate Oceanic University on its anniversary and wish it new victories, brilliant projects, and sustainable and dynamic development.
