IKBFU Entered the Top-5 Russian Universities of the Global Environmental Rating UI GreenMetric

IKBFU ranked 172nd in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025, which lists 1,745 universities from 105 countries. The university took 5th place among 49 Russian universities included in the ranking.

 UI GreenMetric annually assesses the environmental sustainability of the world’s universities. The rating is based on indicators grouped into six aggregated criteria and aims to objectively reflect the level of environmental policy of educational institutions. During the year, IKBFU improved its results in five of the six criteria. The best results were demonstrated by the university according to the “Energy & Climate change” criterion.

Topics of ecology, including environmental care, responsible consumption and use of energy-efficient and resource-saving technologies, are actively present in the university’s activities, it’s research, as well as in public and volunteer work. For several years, the ecological student association “Eiva” has been operating at IKBFU. The tasks of the students include environmental education, within which they conduct workshops and swap parties (exchange of things); organize separate collection of waste;clean-up days.   This year we launched the accelerator “Green Business” to develop technological solutions in the field of ecology for the region. In the final students submitted 36 projects. Students offered both digital solutions and “green” technologies in the field of agriculture, tourism, energy, waste management, etc. I am sure that work on some of these projects will continue, especially since external experts, including representatives of the Regional Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology, highly appreciated the relevance of startups,
