Pavel Feduraev, Acting Head of the IKBFU Institute of Medicine and Life Sciences, attended the “China-Central Asia and the SCO Member States Toward a Community of Shared Health for Humanity” forum. The event was held on June 20, 2025 in Ürümqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China. The forum brought together over 40 prominent experts, policy makers and researchers from the SCO and Central Asian countries to discuss issues of biosafety and cooperation in the field of healthcare.
The event focused on two key topics: the management of regional biosafety and the strengthening of regional collaboration in public health.
Pavel Feduraev gave a presentation titled “Advancing Biosecurity in Life Sciences: IKBFU Holistic Model from Education through Research to Clinical Application”, where he introduced an innovative model combining educational, scientific and clinical aspects of biosafety, and stressed the importance of international cooperation to address global challenges in the area.
Pavel Feduraev, Acting Head of the IKBFU Institute of Medicine and Life Sciences: |
In my presentation, I outlined IKBFU’s model for training professionals in medicine and the natural sciences. This model is based on a distinctive administrative structure and creation of a new educational environment — specifically, a world-class campus — and the seamless integration of education, science, and applied practices. |
The forum also featured addresses from representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, leading scientific institutions, and international organizations such as the World Health Organization. Participants discussed a wide range of current issues, including infectious disease control, the impact of climate change on public health, and the role of traditional medicine in the region.
The event concluded with the adoption of recommendations aimed at strengthening cooperation between SCO and Central Asian countries in the fields of biosafety and public health—a significant step toward building a community of shared health for humanity.
Maria Litvinyuk, Head of the IKBFU Centre for Cross-cultural Communication with the Asia-Pacific Countries: |
The “China—Central Asia and SCO Member States” Forum is a landmark event in the development of multilateral cooperation, especially with our Chinese partners. It provided a new platform for dialogue on one of the most essential topics—human health. We are especially grateful to the Institute of International Relations of China. This kind of partnership paves the way for new joint projects, research initiatives, and the exchange of best practices among experts from our countries. |
