On the 6th of March, the results of the children’s educational programme “Let’s Start the Future Together” were presented at the World Youth Festival. The programme was created by the “Movement of the First” and the Sirius Educational Centre. One thousand teenagers aged 14 to 17, including five hundred international participants, took part in the event.
The contestants created more than a hundred projects in science, technology, ecology and tourism, arts and culture, sports and wellness, humanities and international relations. They teamed up with renowned mentors and worked in 18 workshops and laboratories.
For us it was an unparalleled experience. We had 11 teenagers in our team. They came from Serbia, Jordan, Singapore, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Malaysia, and the Czech Republic. From personal experience, modern teenagers have different educational needs than children had from ten to twenty years ago. This should be taken into account in the training of teachers and educators. |
Denis Voronin, Head of the IKBFU Higher School of Sports |
We were lucky to work with an international team. Our lab welcomed teenagers from Algeria, Tunisia, Tajikistan and Russia. For them it was something totally new, an experience very different from that at school. I was struck by their flexibility and readiness to absorb new material, and thirst for knowledge. The educational programme for schoolchildren as part of a festival is an innovative practice, but I think it will definitely catch on. |
Pavel Feduraev, Head of the IKBFU Higher School of Living Systems |
The World Youth Festival took place in the Sirius Federal Territory in accordance with the Decree signed by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin with the aim of fostering international youth cooperation.
