The VIII International Conference "Fundamental and applied aspects of recovery of consciousness after brain injury: an interdisciplinary approach" is underway at Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University. More than 200 specialists in neurosurgery and neurotraumatology, anesthesiology and resuscitation, neurology, psychiatry, philosophy of consciousness, neurolinguistics, psychology, neurophysiology, physical and rehabilitation medicine, medical and social expertise participate in it. Presentations were made by experts from Armenia, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Russia, and Uzbekistan.
Director of the Higher School of Philosophy, History and Social Sciences Roman Svetlov and Professor Vadim Chaly presented reports on how Immanuel Kant defined consciousness, norms and pathologies in Aristotle's philosophy. Andrey Goncharov, senior researcher at the Center for Immunology and Cell Biotechnology at BFU, shared his ideas about a single mechanism of pathological activation of innate immunity in neurodegenerative diseases. Professor Igor Reverchuk, Head of the Department of Psychiatry and Neurosciences, reviewed the methodological basis and philosophical rationale for a new active neuropsychology, whose components are neuropsychiatry and developmental neuropsychology.
Colleagues from Yerevan presented their experience in rehabilitating patients after social stress disorders, and from Almaty discussed the diagnosis and therapy of postconditioned neuropsychiatric disorders. Alexander Dvirsky, professor at the Vernadsky Crimean Federal University, presented his 20-year development of systems theory in cognitive science, programming and modeling of cognitive processes. The partners from Nepal shared their experience with eastern breathing and dynamic cathartic neurotechnologies that have their origins in ancient Indian and Himalayan practices. Alie Velilyaeva, Head of the Department of Psychiatry, Samarkand State Medical University, raised the topic of interhemispheric interaction in epilepsy and affective disorders.
