IKBFU took 141st place in the 2024 edition of the UI GreenMetric sustainable university development ranking, retaining the third position among 50 Russian universities. This year, almost 1,500 universities from 95 countries were included in the rating (25% more than last year).
UI GreenMetric aims to explore the challenges of global climate change by assessing universities' achievements in clean energy, water conservation, waste recycling, environmentally friendly transport, environmental education and sustainable development research. IKBFU improved its overall score with improvements in the Energy & Climate Change and Transportation performance metrics over the year.

| Environmental issues, such as environmental stewardship, responsible consumption, as well as the use of energy-efficient and resource-saving technologies, are all integrated into the University's activities, research, community and volunteer work. Our large-scale construction project, the Kantiana Campus, is a fully-fledged ESG project. The new academic space will be operational as early as 2026. An equally important environmental project for us is the "Rosyanka" Carbon Measurement Supersite, featuring an onshore and offshore site. These are unique areas used to test technologies for monitoring the balance of greenhouse gases. |
