Following the results of the Council for Supporting Development Programs of the Priority 2030 project, 106 Russian universities will receive development grants. Kantiana has been included in the second group of universities and will receive approximately 400 million rubles. The funds may be used to develop the university’s infrastructure, purchase high-tech equipment, attract world-class researchers, and organize scientific events.
The IKBFU team was supported during the defense before the Council by the Governor of the Kaliningrad Region, Alexey Besprozvannykh. The university’s program, led by Rector Maxim Demin, was presented by Igor Voznyuk, Head of the strategic technological project “New Health Preservation Technologies” at Kantiana and Chief External Neurology Specialist of the St. Petersburg Health Committee and the Russian Ministry of Health for the Northwestern Federal District; Vsevolod Voronov, Director for Technological Development and Localization at JSC “TVEL”; and Daniil Itkis, Director of Research and Development at JSC “Metallion”. Commenting on his participation in the defense, Alexey Besprozvannykh emphasized that all university projects submitted for support under Priority 2030 are directly linked to regional development, are in demand, and are already being implemented in the Kaliningrad Region.
The main task for the university and the region is to ensure that partners become co-authors and co-implementers of the key processes in the new Kantiana campus, which will open in 2026, the year marking the 80th anniversary of the Kaliningrad Region, as part of the national project “Youth and Children.” Maxim Demin stressed that the university has built systematic and genuine cooperation with industry and the region, not just in words but in practice, so that IKBFU’s chosen priorities can be effectively scaled across the region and throughout Russia.
