IKBFU Rector Became Honorary Professor at Bukhara State University

Rector of the Abu Ali Ibn Sino Bukhara State Medical Institute Shukhrat Teshayev awarded the rector of Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University Alexander Fedorov the title of honorary professor for his hard work in developing cooperation between the universities.

The awarding ceremony was held within the visit of IKBFU delegation to Uzbekistan. Our university is represented by Rector Alexander Fedorov, Vice Rector for Youth Policy and International Education Olga Kim, Director of the International Office Daria Gerber, head of the "Institute of Medicine and Life Sciences" cluster Mikhail Agapov and Director of the Higher School of Medicine Sergey Korenev.

Within the framework of the meeting, representatives of the universities discussed the results of the first six months of joint work, the prospects for further development of academic mobility and opportunities for joint research and social programs. The representatives of the IKBFU delegation also visited the new campus and laboratory complex of the Bukhara State Medical University.

Cooperation between our universities has been going on for six months and during this short time we have already achieved good results: professors of our universities regularly exchange experience, take part in scientific events and give open lectures for students both in Russia and in Uzbekistan. This year, IKBFU hosted Uzbek students at a summer school on the "Microbiology and Biotechnology" program, where they were able not only to get new knowledge about the basics of biotechnology processes, but also to get acquainted with the unique nature of the Kaliningrad region. We are also glad that the first students of Bukhara came to us for a semester-long training, and we hope that such practice will only expand in the future. We plan not to carry on and will improve the level of cooperation between our universities: in the near future we plan to create new educational programs, conduct joint research and open a program of trilateral cooperation with Chinese medical universities.
