The RAEX rating agency has published its annual ranking of leading Russian universities, in which Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University was placed 68th out of 213 institutions.
The ranking methodology assesses the quality of education, graduate demand among employers, and research activity — drawing on both statistical indicators and survey data from over 160,000 respondents, including students, graduates, employers, and academic representatives.
Over the past year, IKBFU has improved its position in the research activity category by three places.
| Ilya Samusev, Acting Vice-Rector for Science: |
| The university's record‑breaking research performance in recent years confirms its rapid progress across a range of fields — including materials science, physics, energy, Earth sciences, biotechnology, biomedicine, and regional studies. Between 2023 and 2025, we successfully completed several major projects commissioned by Rosatom, as well as a series of federal projects in synchrotron and neutron research. Applied research continues under the domestic instrument engineering programme. At present, the university is implementing two Russian Science Foundation grants — one supporting world‑class laboratories, the other funding fundamental and exploratory research led by prominent scientists. Over the past five years, IKBFU researchers have published over 2,600 articles in Scopus‑indexed journals — 125 of which have appeared since the beginning of this year. |
