On 1–3 June 2026, the first Forum for International Medical Students — MEDUNITY RUSSIA — took place at the First Moscow State Medical University in Moscow.
As part of the forum, participants presented their research to a panel of experts. First place was awarded to international students from Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University — Ajay Ahilan, Harshada Swamy and Sameerika Navukkarasu, who impressed the judges with the quality of their work.
Associate Professor Aliya Turdiyeva of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology delivered a presentation on the barriers international medical students face in developing clinical reasoning skills and shared practical solutions for overcoming linguistic and cultural challenges.

| Forums like this are essential to the medical community — they connect students and educators, facilitate the exchange of best practice, and encourage discussion of emerging challenges. For students, the benefits are clear: presenting research to experts, receiving feedback, and networking with peers from other universities all help build a strong foundation for a future career. |

Looking back as graduation approaches, we know we made the right choice in entrusting our education to Russia and to Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University. Studying here has given us countless opportunities to challenge ourselves, engage in international projects, and grow as future medical professionals. It is here that our love for medicine, a science that connects people and saves lives, was born and deepened. We are thankful for every lecture, every clinical day, and every moment in the laboratory. This journey has shaped us into doctors ready to serve with dedication. On behalf of our delegation, we sincerely thank our mentor, Aliya Turdiyeva, for her support, wisdom, and belief in us. We are proud of our university, and this experience inspires us to continue striving for new achievements. |
IKBFU sends its warmest congratulations to the winners, the soon‑to‑be graduates, and the professors who guided them.
