On 16 September, Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University hosted its traditional information session for international first‑year students, organised by the university's International Office in collaboration with other administrative departments. During the event, students were introduced to the main university departments that work with international students — including the Student Accommodation Complex, the Clinical and Diagnostic Centre, and the Kantiana Student Sports Club.
First‑year students learnt about the specifics of visa and immigration legislation, the rules for living in halls of residence, accessing medical care, measures of socio‑economic support, extracurricular activities, and other opportunities available to international students. After each topic, students were able to ask questions directly to the specialists and learnt first‑hand about the opportunities available at IKBFU.

Maria Litvinyuk, Acting Director of the IKBFU International Office:
The IKBFU International Office is the main point of contact and guide for every international student. We are here to support you every step of the way — from sorting out paperwork to settling in and getting involved in university life. Our aim is to ensure your stay in Russia is lawful, comfortable, safe, and memorable. That is precisely why we hold meetings like this, where we discuss important matters and answer all your questions.

Maxim Demin, IKBFU Rector:
I always say that international students are the most motivated. These are young people who have left the family nest at a fairly young age and moved not just to another city, but to another country. This is a significant step — a testament to their greater motivation, a drive towards independent living, self‑fulfilment, and self‑directed learning. For now, your education will be your top priority, but don't forget about the wonderful place you've come to. Don't waste your time; fall in love with this beautiful region — without a doubt, the best place to live.
In addition to important information, each student received a welcome pack containing university merchandise and leaflets with essential information for international students

In 2026, the largest numbers of students came to study from India, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, China, and Turkmenistan.
