Sixth-year international students Asavari Omprakash More and Aditi Mahadev Harer became prize-winners at the SCIENCE4HEALTH 2025 International Scientific Conference, held at the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) in Moscow. Their paper, ’Human Papillomavirus: Awareness as the First Step to Recovery’ was awarded third place in the research competition.
The conference brought together scientists from different countries to discuss current issues in medicine and public health. Over the course of three days, participants presented projects, shared innovative approaches, and engaged in discussions with leading industry experts.
The students selected the topic of HPV (human papillomavirus) because the disease remains a key public health problem in India, their home country. They emphasised the importance of prevention and public awareness, which is particularly relevant for countries with high infection rates.
Aliya Turdiyeva, who holds a Candidate of Medical Sciences degree and works as an Associate Professor in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at IKBFU, oversaw the project as its scientific supervisor. This is not the first time that students have achieved outstanding results under her guidance, regularly winning awards at Russian and international forums.

It is important for us not only to provide knowledge, but also to develop students’ clinical reasoning, their ability to recognise global challenges and find solutions. |
Taking part in SCIENCE4HEALTH 2025 was an important step for Asavari and Aditi in their professional development. The students say that this experience has made them want to keep working in medical research: |
Our goal is to improve the lives of people in India by contributing to the fight against HPV. |
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at IKBFU is working to build stronger international partnerships and support students in their mission to make a positive impact on the world through science. We congratulate the team on their well-deserved victory and wish them continued success.
