The International Kant Congress is the main academic event of 2024. It will be held on 22–24 April 2024 in Kaliningrad, the birthplace of Immanuel Kant. Leading scientists from numerous countries have expressed their desire to take part in the congress.
Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Chairman of the Organising Committee for the preparation and celebration of Immanuel Kant's 300th anniversary:
By decree of the Russian President Vladimir Putin, the 300th anniversary of Immanuel Kant's birth will be commemorated in 2024. The focal point of the celebration is the International Kant Congress, an invitation to which we extend to representatives of the global academic community. Russia prides itself on being a hospitable nation that possesses the ability to successfully host a top-tier international event.
He further stated that there is currently a significant demand for philosophy, as evidenced by the emergence of new educational platforms, courses and communities that address the fundamental questions of cognition.
Alexander Fedorov, IKBFU Rector:
We greatly admire the lasting impact left by Professor Kant, the patron of the University. His ideas have had a profound influence on science, culture, pedagogy, and international law. In recent years, the University has spearheaded a significant global movement towards embracing the philosophy of the future. This entails understanding its evolving nature, the future of society and education, and our own contribution to the advancement of both Russia and the world. The preparation and organisation of the upcoming anniversary events will strengthen the reputation of Russian science and generate greater interest among foreign academics. Kant once famously stated that philosophy is the sole discipline capable of providing us with inner fulfilment — a remarkably accurate saying! In 2024, we will indeed witness the triumph of philosophical thought.
Kant scholars from many countries have extensively discussed Immanuel Kant's undeniable influence and contribution to world philosophy.
Nina Dmitrieva, PhD in Philosophical Sciences, Head of the IKBFU Academia Kantiana:
Immanuel Kant stands as the intellectual authority from whom everyone seeks guidance on fundamental questions of life. Kant's famous categorical imperative emphasises the importance of solidarity. It urges us to align our habits and desires to support the well-being of others. By adhering to this behaviour, one stays loyal to their own identity, humanity, and freedom.
