On the 27th of June, nine educators from the Namibian and Zimbabwean universities successfully completed the «Russian as a Foreign Language for Science, Education, and Culture» intensive course. Participants, all graduates of Russian universities, now apply their knowledge in fields such as chemistry, anatomy, computer science, and biology back in their home countries.
During the ten day course, the participants not only improved their Russian, but also gained insight into the country’s culture. They visited the city's major landmarks and the Baltic Sea coast, learned more about the University, appreciated Kaliningrad cuisine, took part in a pelmeni-making workshop, and experienced Russian folk music.

Thank you for spending these ten days with us. We hope this is the first step towards fruitful cooperation. We hope that there is a place in your heart for the Baltic Federal University. You are always welcome here and look forward to seeing you on postgraduate programmes and invite you to collaborate with us in the field of science and education. |
Paulus Sheetekela, Vice-President of the Association of Russian University Graduates: |
I would like to thank the University for the excellent organisation and the opportunity to participate in this interesting international project. It is an adventure that will remain in our memory forever. It was very interesting for us to come back to Russia again, especially to visit such an unusual and beautiful region. |
The African delegation gifted IKBFU a national Namibian attire — a brightly coloured dress and a headdress.
As a final task, the programme participants presented their Russian language projects:
The intensive course was held within the framework of the international project “Popularisation of the Russian language and Russian education in African countries”, the operator of which is D. Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology; organised with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The media partner of the project is TV BRICS International Media Network.
IKBFU takes part in the federal project for the second year in a row. In 2023, 11 teachers from Zimbabwe completed a professional development programme at the University.
