The diorama miniatures have been created using computer modelling. All details (architectural elements, clothing, paving stones and each person’s look) were meticulously studied by historians, modelled, and then sculpted by the project designer. |
In June 1789 the Russian historian Nikolai Karamzin visited Kant at his house on the Prinzessinstrasse St.
Karamzin wrote:
Yesterday afternoon I visited the famous Kant, the profound, acute metaphysician... I had no letter of introduction, but «boldness conquers cities’’. I was received by a small, thin elderly man of an extraordinarily delicate and clear complexion. Kant speaks quickly, very softly and indistinctly, and therefore I had to listen with all my concentration. His little house is small, and the furnishing inside is not much. Everything is simple, with one exception — his metaphysics... |
Ekaterina Koporyzova, the project designer: |
The diorama is a wonderful way to immerse the viewer in the historical world of Immanuel Kant. I tried to capture the warmth and cosiness of an old lush street as much as possible. |
The diorama is available to view on weekdays from 9:00 to 17:30.
