The “World of Immanuel Kant” project, conducted by researchers from IKBFU, has been named a finalist for the prestigious “2023 Center for Iconographic and Visual Studies (CIVIS) Award”.
The research team, consisting of Elena Baranova, Irina Belintseva, Vyacheslav Vereshchagin, and Vitaly Maslov, was awarded with an Honorary Diploma for their outstanding work “Junkersstrasse: virtual reconstruction of a Königsberg street of in the time of Kant. XVIII — beginning of XIX century”. Through extensive research and utilisation of archaeological data, archival materials, and descriptions, the team successfully brought back to life the Junkerstrasse as it appeared during Immanuel Kant's lifetime, serving as a symbol of Kaliningrad's rich historical heritage.
The street was meticulously reconstructed using the latest research, advanced technology, and state-of-the-art computer graphics. Collaborating with experts from various fields, researchers were able to recreate every aspect of the scene with great precision.
Participants from all over Russia, spanning from the Baltic Sea to Lake Baikal, submitted their works for the competition.
The competition included researchers and students ranging from bachelors to PhD students and junior researchers. More than half of the participants were Candidates of Art Criticism, Historical and Philosophical Sciences, including five Associate Professors and a member of the Russian Academy of Arts.
