The new student laboratory created jointly by Rosatom and IKBFU opens at the Higher School of Living Systems.
The Rosatom Gigafactory in Kaliningrad is slated to begin production of lithium-ion batteries in 2025. The laboratory is made to replicate the technological process of lithium-ion battery production at the Gigafactory on a scaled-down level. The facilities of the laboratory will make it possible to conduct scientific research and carry out research and development work to increase the energy density of accumulator cells.
Scientists and their student's work will be relevant in a wide range of applications: electric transport, uninterruptible power supplies, power quality systems and others. The solution of these problems can significantly improve the main characteristics of batteries.
The lab is equipped with cutting-edge technology, representing an investment of over 23 million roubles.
Up to 16 students can simultaneously utilise the lab, with a total of 100 Master's and PhD students gaining access to the advanced facility.
