“Standing at the Forefront of Kant Studies”: Leonard Kalinnikov Presents at the International Kant Congress

Leonard Kalinnikov, Doctor of Philosophy, Consulting Professor at the IKBFU Higher School of Philosophy, History and Social Sciences, has been examining the legacy of Immanuel Kant for more than 50 years. At the International Kant Congress, Professor Kalinnikov delivered a presentation “The Architectonics of Kant’s System”.

Prefacing his speech, Nina Dmitrieva, Research Director of the Academia Kantiana, emphasised Leonard Kalinnikov’s enormous contribution to the study of the philosopher’s legacy.

Leonard was at the forefront of Kantian studies in Kaliningrad from the very beginning, was for many years the permanent editor of the Kantian Journal, and published many works devoted to Kant. We are fortunate to have such a wonderful man and legend working at IKBFU

Kalinnikov shared that he began seriously studying Kant before the philosopher’s 250th anniversary and devoted over 50 years of his life to this research.

“Kant continues to inspire me more and more. I came to a conclusion that he is the only philosopher who is above everything else in the philosophical world; I am constantly discovering new sides and ideas of Kant that before seemed unclear, incomprehensible and inaccessible. The most important lesson I take from Kant is to strive to be logical, to follow this principle heroically, without evasion”, said Leonard Kalinnikov.
