Group of students from various cities in Germany arrived at the IKBFU to participate in a vacation school focused on Russian language and culture. The visit, organized by the International Office of IKBFU, gave Germans the opportunity not only to begin studying the Russian language but also to personally experience the history and atmosphere of Russia's westernmost region.
During these days, the German guests are immersed in an intensive educational and cultural program. The main focus is on learning the Russian language: an intensive course has been organized for the school participants, allowing them to master basic grammar and lay the foundation for conversational skills in a short time. The German delegation has already been given a tour of the modern campus, the "Fabrika" science and technology park, the IKBFU Museum of Soviet Childhood, and shown the beautiful appearance of modern Kaliningrad.
As part of the vacation school program, Anna Budarina, Head of the Institute of Education and Humanities, delivered a lecture to the participants. During the fascinating lecture, the speaker told the guests about the model of higher education in Russia and the prospects that Russian education opens up for international students.
The guests attended practical classes of students from the Higher School of Linguistics, who are studying German as a foreign language. The meeting turned into a lively dialogue of two cultures: Russian students prepared a presentation for the guests about Russian traditions and holidays, while the guests from Germany happily told the students about their country: the history of music, true and not-so-true stereotypes about Germany, the diverse geography and demography of the country, the modern media sphere, and the healthcare system.
The educational program continued within the walls of the Higher School of Philosophy, History, and Social Sciences, where the vacation school participants joined classes with international master's students. Together with the students, they delved into solving practical cases on international negotiations. This allowed the participants of the business game to learn firsthand how dialogue between countries is built and diplomatic agreements are reached.
Daria Gerber, Director of the International Office of IKBFU, commenting on the visit, emphasized the importance of such live contacts.
| It is encouraging to see that European youth is interested in Russia, Russian culture, and the Russian language. We don't just want to tell people about us remotely — we want them to come and experience firsthand what true Russian hospitality and warmth are like. These schools are breaking down stereotypes and building genuine bridges of friendship between the youth of our countries," said Daria Gerber, |
