Academic exchange programs are always very popular among students. Last semester, 13 students from partner universities, the Abu Ali ibn Sino Bukhara State Medical Institute (Uzbekistan) and the Karaganda Kazpotrebsoyuz University (Kazakhstan) received a rector’s grant for a free semester study at IKBFU. The students from Kazakhstan studied at the Higher School of Physical Problems and Technologies, and the students from Uzbekistan studied at the Higher School of Medicine.
The students shared their impressions of their first semester at Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University.
— How did you find out about the opportunity to come to study at IKBFU?
Daler Muminov is a 2nd-year student of the Abu Ali ibn Sino Bukhara State Medical Institute: |
There was a competition for all students of our institute to study on the grant of the rector of BFU named after I. Kant, I immediately applied. I knew that our universities had only recently begun to cooperate, so I wanted to be among the first to be selected. |
Rishat Suleimanov, 4th year student at Karaganda Kazpotrebsoyuz University: |
My university in Karaganda at the beginning of summer announced a mobility program with IKBFU: I was offered to participate in the selection to study in Kaliningrad on a grant of the rector of IKBFU. It was a new area, no one from the university had ever traveled to this city, and we were excited about the opportunity to become pioneers. |
— Was it hard to get used to living in Kaliningrad?
Rishat Suleymanov: |
In the first days it was unusual: a different city, a different way of life, everything was new and unknown. It was more excitement than discomfort. However, after a couple of weeks, the city and its life became clearer and closer. Away from home, there is also a certain sense of freedom, an interest to explore everything, to see as much as possible. In many ways, the process of getting used to living in a new place was easy because of the other students and new friends. |
Zahro Saidasanova, 3rd year student at Karaganda Kazpotrebsoyuz University: |
It wasn't easy at first — a different country, where you're all alone. But on the way I met open and kind people who were always around, who I could ask questions to. |
-Describe your experience of studying at IKBFU
Rishat Suleymanov: |
Thanks to the wonderful teachers, namely Maria Builova and Victoria Marchenko, the study was very informative and interesting. The semester passed in the same breath. But besides education, I liked extracurricular life at BFU: during this time there were so many great activities in different areas, for any interest. There are organized trips and excursions, which allows you to see the remote corners of the region. Of the international events, the UNITED festival was memorable. It was really large-scale and bright, thanks to this festival we met a lot of new friends, and after the festival we continued to communicate, went to the sea together. |
Zahro Saidasanova: |
The training is in a comfortable environment thanks to the teachers: they are open and very kind. They approach their subject with enthusiasm, thus making students interested. The extracurricular life of the university is also very interesting and colorful, does not give boredom and gives additional motivation. It is very noticeable that IKBFU loves the students and listens to their problems and worries. |
Daler Muminov: |
During this semester, I was able to make sure that BFU gives a high quality education. A student gets great opportunities here. So for myself I made a decision to try to pass the selection for one more semester at IKBFU. |
