On April 9, Kaliningrad hosted the opening ceremony of a new facility, the Philosophical Bridge over the Pregolya River. The bridge helps to get to Kant Island: you can quickly walk from Victor Hugo Street and Peter the Great Embankment. The new bridge connected key points of the city center: the Museum of the World Ocean, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the Cathedral.
The ceremony was attended by students of the IKBFU — Dmitry Bezborodov, Daria Maloikina, Daria Petrova. Our students, dressed in the ceremonial robes of the Academic Council of the University, were among the first Kaliningrad residents to cross the new bridge together with the Head of the region, Alexey Besprozvanykh, and the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matvienko.
Dmitry Bezdorodov, student of the IKBFU:
We had a fairly simple task — to solemnly walk across the bridge in robes and meet with the governor and the Head of the Federation Council. But it was still exciting to be the first to set foot on the new bridge, all the participants of the ceremony looked at us, journalists took photos and filmed videos. We talked with Alexey Sergeevich and Valentina Ivanovna right on the bridge. She asked where we are studying, how our study is going, and we thanked her for the opportunities. Overall, everything was very positive!
Daria Petrova, student of the IKBFU:
The invitation was very unexpected, but we got together with the guys pretty quickly. Of course, the emotions were overwhelming, especially from the dialogue with Valentina Matvienko and the Governor. They asked if we were cold, how our study is going at the university, and what plans we had for life. It was very pleasant!
