Tatyana Chernigovskaya: “The Philosophy Olympiad Participants May Help the Mankind Find its Path”

Director of the Cognitive Research Institute at St. Petersburg University, professor Tatyana Chernigovskaya delivered a lecture to students at International Philosophy Olympiad solemn closing ceremony.

The professor told about the importance of philosophy:
It’s good that young people are interested in philosophy as it is the most important scientific direction. The mankind today has gone astray and stumbles blindly in the darkness, and I hope that the young philosophers here will lighten the way for us all.

In her lecture "The Brain as Baroque," the professor told how knowledge about the brain has changed over the centuries, why Baroque, as an artistic movement, most accurately reflects today's ideas about the brain, and why to involve the humanities in the study of the brain.

It should be noted that online broadcast with lecture by Tatyana Chernigovskaya had more than 22 thousand views. Registration for full-time participation for students and staff of BFU (200 places in total) closed literally within three hours after the opening.
