The 60-meter clock tower in the future building of the Higher School of Philosophy and Social Sciences has rightfully become an architectural symbol of the Kantiana's Neocampus. Evgeny Mironov, a watchmaker, has taken on the ambitious task of creating the mechanism, cases, and dials. The specialist noted that the project is unique in many ways due to it’s scale and technological solutions.
The tower will feature a 3,000-millimeter clock consisting of four dials oriented towards the four cardinal directions. Each dial has 16 removable segments made of tempered glass, which is tinted with a white light-diffusing film. The clock mechanisms in the steel case were manufactured in Russia.
| Special durable materials are used to create the clock, which helps to extend it’s lifespan. The clock is resistant to environmental factors and mechanical damage. It is designed to last for decades, |
| according to Evgeny Mironov. |
The watch is equipped with four types of RGB backlight*, which can be controlled using a Wi-Fi controller integrated into the watch case. | For the first time in Russia, the hands of the dials were also equipped with RGB illumination. It will be possible to create not only a static color picture, but also, for example, during the New Year holidays, to turn on the dynamic backlight synchronously with the clock. The three-dimensional Roman numerals are illuminated internally using “day/night” technology. That is, the numbers will be black during the day, and at night they will glow in any color, according to various scenarios of dynamic RGB illumination. This effect is achieved by using perforated stainless steel in a sealed stainless steel case for their manufacture. The watch can also be equipped with a combat system, |
| the watchmaker noted. |
*RGB lighting is a lighting system based on red (Red), green (Green), and blue (Blue) LEDs that can create up to 16.8 million shades by mixing them.
