Botanical Garden

The Botanical Garden is an outdoor museum of nature, a place of tranquil beauty in the historical centre of the city, and a unique scientific department of the University. Rare plants from all over the world — North America, Japan and China, the Far East, Central Europe — are displayed here; many of them are conservation dependent

Immanuel Kant, “Critique of Judgment”

Garden History

The Botanical Garden is located on the grounds of the former Königsberg Gardens in one of the most beautiful areas of the city. It was founded by Paul Kaeber, professor of the University of Königsberg, as a training centre for students. His monument, erected in 1919, remains in the Garden to this day
