On December 27th, 47 Chinese and Russian IKBFU students came together to celebrate the New Year's holiday in a joint creative event at the Centre for Cross-cultural Communication with the Asia-Pacific Countries
Aspiring Chinese teachers introduced the Chinese students to the history and customs of the New Year celebrations in Russia, including traditional dishes, gift-giving, and popular New Year's songs.
Polina Enkuleva, a 5th year student of the “Pedagogical Education with two profiles (Chinese and English)” educational programme, shared a video discussing how her family celebrated this cheerful winter holiday together with their pet cat to the great delight of the audience.
The Chinese students organised a real New Year's Eve concert, showcasing their traditional talents: Ma Haozhan, a 3rd year PhD student in Education and Pedagogical Sciences, performed a traditional Chinese opera song, and his classmate Luo Yafang played the traditional two-stringed instrument, the erhu. The students also enjoyed singing popular New Year songs in Russian, Chinese and English.
The attendees decorated a Russian Christmas tree with cards in the form of ornaments, on which they wrote messages in Russian and Chinese.
The event was capped off by handing out certificates to six students from partner universities in China ( Northwestern Pedagogical University, Qiqihar University and Huaihua University) who had undergone language training at IKBFU. The students expressed their gratitude to the university and their desire to continue their studies in bachelor's and master's programs.
The IKBFU team wishes all students Happy Holidays and all the best in the new year!
